Mother’s Day is fast approaching and for me personally it’s an emotional day. My Mum is no longer with us, so whilst I sometimes struggle seeing lots of heartfelt love for Mums all across the country, I am also a Mother myself and still like to celebrate Mother’s Day with my children – after all – I am the Mum that my Mother made me and that, I will always be thankful for.

This year more than ever, us Mums could do with a bit of a thank you – Many Mums across the country have got the short end of the stick during lockdown – with stats proving that we have taken on the bulk of the home schooling responsibilities, whilst also attempting to juggle our own jobs and incomes and all the other challenges that fall on our shoulders. With some small gleams of hope on the horizon, Mother’s Day is a great opportunity for partners and children to say thankyou to their Mums for being there through the hard times and the good.

This post features a round up of some lovely gift ideas for inspiration. Feel free to tag your partners on social media as a not so subtle hint, or if like my partner, they are likely to forget exactly when it is(!!)

For the Mum who could do with a tipple…

Let’s face it, after 9 weeks of home schooling, their aren’t many Mums who wouldnt be tempted by a stiff drink – even me, who the majority of the time is fairly tee total! Home schooling has been HARD, and quite frankly, we all deserve a medal (or a large glass or two) to celebrate surviving an entire half term of fractions and fronted adverbials!

If you want to raise a glass to your Mum in style, why not treat her to a bottle of gin from MOM Love Gin – it’s literally made for her! MOM Love Gin is a 37.5% premium gin, crafted with exotic botanicals and strawberries to give it a a gorgeous pink shade. If you REALLY want to treat your Mum this Mother’s Day (or more likely book in your own treat from the other half), why not grab a large glass, some ice and run a steaming hot bubble bath, before being left ALONE for a solid hour until your fingers go wrinkly. BLISS. MOM love Gin is on offer at Ocado until the 16th March at just £24 (normally £28). If all else fails, you can always get one for yourself! 🙂

Sticking with the tipple theme, how gorgeous is this Secret Garden Gin Gift set from Old Curiosity!? Not only is the feminine and whimsical packaging absolutely stunning but inside you have two 20CL bottles of gin – Pink Elderfower & Jasmine and Apothecary Rose. I can confirm they smell and taste amazing and make the ideal evening drink coupled with  low sugar tonic and some fresh fruit to garnish.

The Secret Garden Gin Gift Set is available now at theoldcuriosity.co.uk and retails at £29.95. Other items in the range include their Miniature Gin Gift Set and Make Your Own Gin Hamper, as well as their subscription box package – The Secret Garden Gin Club for which gift vouchers are available online.

You can’t have the perfect drink without the perfect tonic? Butler & Brewer have just launched a fab range of natural tonic enhancers that make an ideal great accompaniment to gin or vodka and tonic. They are completely natural and come in five, elegant, well rounded flavours.

The Butler & Brewer enhancers are handcrafted and crammed full of citrus, fruit and botanical flavours, but with zero added sweetness – the Raspberry, Basil & Lime is so refreshing and a great addition to a vodka or gin based tipple! Simply add four dashes to your glass and top up with tonic. Divine! You can pick from the 5 delicious flavours on the Butler & Brewer website here.

For the Mum who deserves a Self Care Treat

Over the last 9 weeks in particular, Mums have been lacking in the opportunity for a bit of self care. An ideal treat to send through the post if you can’t be with your Mum this Mother’s Day, is these letter box friendly gift boxes from PostBoxed.co.uk.

With gift boxes to choose from based on your recipient, you can select the ideal combination for your loved one – from their little box of positivity, their box of calm or even their box of gin. Pictured below is the Signature Box for Her – and it includes   the following:

  • A bar of Arthouse caramel and sea salt chocolate – Arthouse is a charity where artists with complex epilepsy and learning disabilities create artwork, and the packaging of this bar is absolutely stunning.
  • Alphabet Bags You Got This Enamel Pin –A great gift for Mum – giving her a little reminder that no matter what challenges are thrown in her direction – she has absolutely got this!
  • Vinoos Real Wine Gums – who wouldn’t love wine gums that actually taste like wine?!
  • Katie Loxton Notebook Duo (White and Gold) – a beautiful little duo of stationery delights – perfect for those never ending to do lists.
  • Marvling Bros A Little Hug in a Matchbox – which is just the cutest thing and another way to send a virtual bit of LOVE to your Mum when you can’t be together.

The PostBoxed gift sets come beautifully wrapped in thick decorative paper and are an absolute delight to open and receive.

For the Mum who deserves something special…

Many of us Mums are feeling well and truly ready to walk down the aisle in 2021. No not that aisle!!! – the plane aisle!! With so many of us having had holidays, family trips and beach retreats cancelled in 2020, many of us are reminiscing about the holidays we’ve been on in the past and craving sunsets and sand between our toes.

For a sentimental gift for your Mum that celebrates a love of travel, these bracelets from El Camino are ideal! These handmade customisable travel bracelets allow your loved one to celebrate their travel memories from all across the globe by adding country, ocean and adventure ‘steps’ or ring charms from their destinations of choice. You can even personalise your own custom charms for a more personal touch.

With a stainless steel clasp, this gorgeous purple double loop bracelet is just £36.99, with country steps available from £10.49 each. The El Camino bracelet is celebrating my Trek Iceland experience – I can only hope that I get to return to that beautiful landscape in the future – I could certainly do with a float in the Blue Lagoon right about now!

Whilst home working and zoom meetings are likely to be around for some time yet, why not allow Mum to feel a bit more glamorous on her virtual meetings with some new jewellery from Daisy London?

Daisy London are a much-loved British jewellery brand that are known for their beautiful, everyday jewellery which comes with meaning. At the heart of Daisy London lies an adventure, a love for life and a need to explore, acknowledging that we are all part of something much bigger and that together, we are everything.

I absolutely LOVE their namesake English Daisy range, with over 20 different English Daisy designs to choose from including earrings, bracelets, rings and a range of different length and size necklaces all in a complimentary design.

I love it when Spring arrives and new florals give hope of the months to come (and this year they come with even more meaning than ever!) This beautiful floral design that is subtle yet feminine and makes a lovely addition to any outfit for Spring.  Pictured below are the English Daisy Drop earrings and English Daisy Feather Drop necklace. For me personally, feathers are a sign from heaven, so this felt like a lovely way to celebrate the memories of my own Mother too.

For the Mum who needs more Time

OK, so as much as we’d love to actually be able to gift more time for your Mum to have a moments peace, relax or get on top of her ever expanding to do list. Time Turners don’t exist in real life. You can however treat your Mum to a beautiful new watch, which means when she is rushing around juggling plates or wishing their were more hours in the day, she can do so in style.

These Pink Cherry floral watches from Toff London come with a striking floral design on the watch face, and are available in a choice of strap, case and dial colours to suit your Mums’ preferred colour scheme. Even better, the floral watches are currently on offer at half price, making them just £49.99!

Water resistant to 3TAM and with a durable and flexible leather strap, these watches are the perfect balance of style and practicality, making them ideal for what ever your Mums’ day has in store!

For the Sentimental Mum

There will be lots of Mums who, like me, are feeling quite emotional about the return to school. Whilst they will be no doubt happy to quit their role as Home School Teacher and return to their role as Mum, they will almost definitely miss the kids like crazy when the house is empty and the lockdown days in the garden and family walks are a distant memory.

For the sentimental Mum, these Willow Tree Family Set ups make a really beautiful and personal gift. Willow Tree are a line of hand- carved figurative sculptures that embrace the qualities that help us feel close to others, hope, healing wounds and treasuring relationships using only body gestures as their expression.

The Willow Tree Family groupings range allows you to select figures that best visualise your family set up – capturing their personalities and gestures. You can add additional siblings, babies and even pets!

This family grouping below is made of of the pieces My Girls (featuring a father and his two daughters) and Je t’aime – representing a mother’s love.

You can recreate your own family or couple at Willow Tree Gifts here.

For Mums’ Bedtime Story

As a Mum who loves reading to the girls most nights before bed, the gift of a bedtime story for us Mums makes a lovely Mother’s Day gift from the kids. Beautifully illustrated and something that ALL Mums will relate to, How to Spot a Mum is a tongue-in-cheek tribute and ode to all mums, everywhere. We really enjoyed reading through the pages together, discovering about all the different kind of Mums and their special skills ihcluding detecting fibs, solving mysteries and conflict resolution.

The pictures in this book are just gorgeous, with a very Lydia Ortiz style which is super popular at the moment. It helps children learn that all mums are unique. From the Outdoorsy Mum who loves fresh air and the Chatty Mum who’s always got a story or the Rebel Mum who never reads the instructions – which Mum are you?

How to Spot a Mum is available now at Amazon and retails at £7.99.
