Introducing Kekilou Surprise

There is a new collectible toy on the scene, and this one is a little different to the norm. Introducing Kekilou – a new transforming collectible inspired by fashion with lots of secret surprises!

When it comes to collectible toys, there aren’t many that Erin hasn’t had her eye on at one point or another. She loves the unboxing process, the big reveal and the range of surprises hidden inside, and then she loves trying to find every one in the collection, ticking them off a collectors sheet as she goes.

As she is getting older, she is also starting to show an interest in fashion, paying more of an interest in the clothes she wears each day, regularly asking to have her nails painted, to add a bit of glitter to her face, or wondering around with a little pot of lip gloss and popping some on before we leave the house. 5 going on 15!

When I heard about a new range of collectibles from Flair that were inspired by fashion and had mini make up surprises inside I knew that this would be right up Erin’s street, so we were chuffed to be sent some of the Kekilou range to put through their paces!

The Kekilou Surprise collecibles are available in a few different formats as follows:

Kekilou Surprise K-Cutie Mini Bag Assortment

The K-Cutie Mini Bags retail at £4.99 and are individual mini bags that transform into mini dolls with make up or glitter hidden inside. There are 12 different mini bags to collect, and each one contrains either a lip gloss, eye shadow or body glitter.

The bag clips open to reveal the doll hidden inside – you can then simply fold up the dolls head and torso, and pop out the feet, before tucking away the handle out of sight. The bag then becomes the skirt part of the dolls dress. Each doll has a different hair style, with real hair that Erin can brush and play with.

As if the bag transforming to a doll wasn’t cute enough already, each surprise K-Cutie Kekilou has a slide away part of the dress that reveals either a small eyeshadow, lipgloss or glitter palette inside. Erin found the sliding up part a little tricky at times so sometimes had to ask for my help but the more times she had done it the less she needed to ask for assistance.

Erin was a big fan of the mini bag dolls, and loved the variety of bright colours and hair styles available in the set, even asking me if she could have her hair done just like the ginger character (who is her fave!)

The Kekilou Surprise K-Vanity Mini Vanity Playset

The K-Vanity Kit is a slightly larger set, and comes with an individual Kekilou doll and a beautiful light up vanity kit with a real mirror inside. There are two slots in the base of the vanity mirror so that the doll can stand inside, and the unit lights up as she is placed on the footprints in the middle.

There are four different vanity cases to collect, and each one has two hidden drawers containing some lipgloss and eyeshadow on one side, and two mini make up brushes on the other.

Erin really loved the light up feature of the K-Vanity set, and also loved seeing the finished effect of her lip gloss application by posing at herself in the mirror!

Kekilou K-Party Bag Playset

The larger of the playsets, the Kekilou K-Party Bag Playset retails at £24.99 and is a cute, trendy bag that opens up to reveal a playset beauty salon and party area for the mini bag dolls to play in.

Erin was really excited by the super cute bag which is not only an ideal place for children to stash away their Kekilou collection (you can fit at least four inside) but the bag opens up to create a salon like scene.

There are lots of little surprises inside the playset including a fridge with opening door, dressing table with sink and lots of little accessories including mini hair straightners, champagne flute and bucket of ice and a mini make up palette.

The dressing table has a small sink in which you can add a little bit of warm water. There is one doll included in the Kekilou K-Party Bag set and if you add her hair to warm water her hair changes colour from pink to white (returning to pink again once it has dried). Erin really enjoyed this bit, although it’s worth noting it only works when the water is quite warm – so don’t do what I did and attempt it with cold!

Inside the Kekilou K-Party Bag Playset there is also a moving dance floor, where you can slot a Kekilou mini mag doll into the floor before twisting the counter table to make her move backwards an forwards in a twisting, dancing motion.

The Kekilou K-Party Bag playset has two shelves on the sides which are useful for storing other mini bags when not in use.

It comes with a sheet full of stickers so you can personalise the outside of the case, with stars and heart shapes that can be dotted around as your child wishes – these were easy enough for Erin to peel and stick on her own.

The Kekilou K-Party Bag playset also comes with two clip in wall scenes which can be attached to the sides of the playset to create different ‘rooms’ and then slotted into the back of the bag when not in use (ideal for ensuring they don’t get lost!)

Overall the Kekilou range has been a big hit with Erin, and unlike some collectible toys which can be put to one side once opened and not played with again, the Kekilou range has combined the surprise element with a toy that she actually wants to engage with after the big reveal. Erin really enjoys converting them from mini bags to little dolls, and acting out little scenes in the playset. The heads are also interchangeable, meaning she can move the dolls heads onto different bags (and as such different outfits) if she fancies a change!

As a parent, I think these are a fun twist on the surprise collectible range, and I have been really impressed with how long they have captured her attention. The revealing of the make up elements can be a little tricky at times, but the more Erin has played with these the more confident she has become at doing this herself.

I think the sets are good value for money and that the Mini Bags in particular would make great stocking fillers this Christmas.
