Stairgate Recall

URGENT PRODUCT RECALL!!

Customers who have a PATRULL safety gate from IKEA are urged to immediately stop using it and to take it back to any IKEA store for a full refund.

IKEA has received customer reports where PATRULL safety gates have opened unexpectedly and children have fallen down stairs. Some of the incidents have required medical attention. A third party investigation has shown that the locking mechanism is not reliable, posing a risk for small children, despite approved tests to applicable standards.

“At IKEA, we have a zero tolerance regarding child safety. We want to offer safe products and we believe that children are the most important people in the world. Whenever we are made aware of a possible safety issue with our products, we investigate thoroughly. We cannot accept that there could be a risk of injury while playing and as an immediate and precautionary action we have decided to recall all PATRULL safety gates” says Maria Thörn, Acting Business Area Manager at Children’s IKEA. IKEA is not willing to risk children’s safety and therefore urges all customers that have a PATRULL safety gate to immediately stop using it and to bring it back to an IKEA store for a full refund.

PATRULL safety gate, PATRULL KLÄMMA and PATRULL FAST have been sold on all IKEA markets. Proof of purchase (receipt) is not required. For more information, please contact IKEA on 0203 645 0010

IKEA apologises for any inconvenience this may cause.

Tommee Tippee Recalls over 3million cups!

Tommee Tippee Recalls over 3million cups!

Millions of Tommee Tippee baby and toddler cups have been recalled in the US and Canada after a post from a concerned Dad went viral, of mould forming in the valves – this difficult to clean element of the cups  has been blamed for making children ill with sickness and diarrhoea.

tommee tippee cups

Mayborn USA, the manufacturer behind Tommee Tippee, is now recalling more than 3 million of its sippy cups after  70 children have reportedly become ill by drinking from cups with mouldy valves, according to the Consumer Products Safety Commission in the US.

Tommee Tippee in the UK responded to the viral posts on Facebook earlier in the year by issuing advice on cleaning the valves in the affected cups, and have offered replacement clear valves so that parents could see clearly whether the cups were clean. They are also issuing a new form of cup in coming months.  See how to get your hands on a clear valve from Tommee Tippee here – http://www.tommeetippee.co.uk/support/faqs/one-piece-valve-cup/

Please note – to date, no confirmation has been received regarding whether Mayborn or Tommee Tippee will be recalling any of the products in the UK, although this seems likely. Real Mum Reviews have approached Tommee Tippee for comment and will update with any response.
